The March 2021 Nyack Library Armchair Tour - entitled "The Complicated Legacy of John Green" - was co-sponsored by The Historical Society of the Nyacks (HSN) and featured Village of Nyack historian JP Schutz and John Green Preservation Coalition (JGPC) President Win Perry. It was moderated by HSN Trustee, Bill Batson.

 

JP Schutz told the story of Nyack resident John Green, builder of one of Nyack’s oldest homes, and his many transformative projects which shaped the Nyack that we see today. To Schutz, Green's legacy is complicated by the economic benefits reaped from the labor of enslaved Africans. Q&A followed.
